What it is
Public JSON API efts.sec.gov/LATEST/search-index (no key). Four phrase queries over Form 8-K, 30-day lookback; one news_event per filing linking to the SEC archive (www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/<cik>/<adsh>/<exhibit>). Public domain.
Quirks
The API ignores dateRange=30d, so implementation: news_edgar_fts computes dateRange=custom&startdt&enddt at discovery time. Filings are not fetched. SEC fair-access: identified UA with contact, rpm: 6. efts.sec.gov/robots.txt answers 403 → no rules.
Verification
Verified live on 2026-09-11 with scripts/try-connector.ts (dry run, nothing persisted): 4 queries, 4 JSON responses at L1, 79 dated news_events (registrant, form, exhibit, items, location), 0 projects by design, 0 errors.
