## What it is
News of the Irish energy regulator (CRU), the body that sets the grid-connection rules for Large Energy Users — i.e. data centres — in Ireland: *New Electricity Connection Policy for Data Centres* (proposed decision, 2025-02-18), Large Energy User connections policy consultation and workshops (2024), Enduring Connection Policy ECP-24, National Energy Demand Strategy. 135 news pages at `/about-us/news/<slug>/`, discovered from `/sitemap.xml` (11 487 URLs, filtered by `include`).

## Quirks
- The news index is **client-rendered** (no anchors in the HTML) and there is no RSS → sitemap discovery. Every sitemap `lastmod` carries the same build timestamp, so it gives no freshness signal; change detection relies on content hashes.
- `robots.txt` disallows `/publications/` (decision papers, PDFs) — excluded; only the news pages are fetched. The Irish-language mirror `/ga/` is excluded.
- Pages are server-rendered; the date is a `<time>` element ("15th January 2024") caught by the dateline fallback (`text:dateline`).
- Most CRU news (customer protection, supplier exits, water) is not about data centres and yields nothing; the connection-policy items are the payload.

## Verification
Verified live on 2026-09-12 with `scripts/try-connector.ts` (dry run, nothing persisted): sitemap 11 487 URLs → 135 news URLs discovered, 5 fetched at L1 (0 credits; the first five in sitemap order are customer-protection items → 0 events, 0 errors). `--url` on *New Electricity Connection Policy for Data Centres* → 1 news_event dated 2025-02-18 (`power_infrastructure` / `power_agreement`, project class `GRID_CONNECTION`, country IE), 0 errors.
