# WP35 — The Social Compression Hypothesis (project instructions)

Mandate: `docs/MANDATE_VERBATIM.txt` (pasted by the PI 2026-11-01). Series conventions: `../../HARMONISATION.md`.
Working paper number **35**, folder `economie/social-compression-hypothesis`, future remote `gitsrv:srv/git/wp35_uqo.git`
(push only with PI authorisation).

Rules that bind every edit in this repository:
1. No fabricated data, runs, citations or numbers. Every number in the paper traces to a file under `results/` produced by a
   script under `src/wp35/` or `scripts/`, with the command recorded in `results/logs/execution_log.md`.
2. Labels: EMPIRICAL (observed data), SIMULATED (agent-based), CONJECTURE, PROPOSITION (proved). Never mix.
3. `research/preregistration.md` is frozen (hash in `research/decisions.md`) before any D/K × outcome association is computed.
   Deviations are logged as numbered amendments in `research/decisions.md`.
4. Raw files in `data/raw/` are immutable (hashes in `data/metadata/source_registry.json`). Missing ≠ zero. Dates keep their ranges.
5. Python: `.venv/bin/python` (3.12, pinned in `pyproject.toml`). Tests: `.venv/bin/pytest`. Paper: `cd paper && make`.
