We model Polymarket binary outcome contracts as state-contingent claims and test for market completeness, no-arbitrage pricing, and information aggregation efficiency using Federal Reserve rate decision markets (five mutually exclusive outcomes forming a complete state space) and the 2024 U.S.\ Presidential Election market. Employing a comprehensive empirical framework---including event studies around FOMC and CPI announcements, Hasbrouck information shares, vector autoregression, Granger causality tests, and HAR-RV volatility models---we document three principal findings. First, state prices within Polymarket neg-risk groups sum to values close to unity, consistent with Arrow--Debreu completeness and the absence of persistent arbitrage. Second, prediction market prices adjust to macroeconomic news releases 15--45 minutes ahead of corresponding moves in Treasury futures, implying a price discovery advantage in the state-contingent claims market. Third, liquidity and microstructure quality, as measured by Roll spreads and Amihud illiquidity ratios, rival those of established financial markets for high-profile contracts. These results establish that decentralized prediction markets can function as effective Arrow--Debreu economies and contribute to the literatures on state-contingent pricing, information aggregation, market microstructure, and blockchain finance.% } \newcommand{\WPkeywords}{Prediction markets, Arrow--Debreu securities, state-contingent claims, price discovery, market microstructure, blockchain finance, information aggregation} \newcommand{\WPjel}{G13, G14, D47, D53, C58} % --- Author --- \newcommand{\WPauthor}{Simon-Pierre Boucher} \newcommand{\WPaffiliation}{% Département des sciences administratives\\ Université du Québec en Outaouais% } \newcommand{\WPemail}{simon-pierre.boucher@uqo.ca} \newcommand{\WPaddress}{% Gatineau -- Pavillon Alexandre-Taché\\ 283, boulevard Alexandre-Taché\\ Gatineau, Québec, Canada J9A 1L8% } % ============================================================================ % DOCUMENT % ============================================================================ \begin{document} % --- Title Page --- \input{sections/titlepage} % --- Main Body --- \input{sections/introduction} \input{sections/literature} \input{sections/theoretical} \input{sections/data} \input{sections/methodology} \input{sections/results} \input{sections/robustness} \input{sections/conclusion} % --- References --- \newpage \bibliography{references} % --- Appendix --- \input{appendix/appendix} \end{document}
