Producers publish to exchanges, which route messages to queues by bindings and routing keys; consumers acknowledge each message, and the broker handles redelivery, dead-lettering, TTLs and priorities. Version 4 made AMQP 1.0 a native protocol alongside AMQP 0-9-1, added Khepri metadata storage and promoted quorum queues (Raft-replicated) as the durable default, while the Streams feature provides an append-only, replayable log for high-throughput fan-out. MQTT 5.0 and STOMP plugins serve IoT and web clients, and a management UI and HTTP API cover monitoring. Clients exist for most languages.\n\nRabbitMQ fits task distribution, RPC patterns and routing-heavy integration between services where per-message acknowledgement and flexible topologies matter. Commercial support and extra features are sold as Tanzu RabbitMQ, and managed instances are offered by CloudAMQP and major clouds. Compared with Kafka, retention and replay are limited to Streams, and throughput per node is lower; compared with NATS or Redis-based queues it is heavier to operate.",98 "capabilities": [99 "Exchanges, bindings and routing keys for flexible message routing",100 "Per-message acknowledgements, dead-letter exchanges, TTLs and priorities",101 "Quorum queues replicated with Raft",102 "Streams for replayable append-only logs",103 "AMQP 0-9-1, AMQP 1.0, MQTT 5.0 and STOMP protocols",104 "Management UI, HTTP API and Prometheus metrics"105 ],106 "categories": [107 {108 "slug": "messaging-queues",109 "primary": true110 }111 ],112 "execution_modes": [113 "self-hosted",114 "cloud"115 ],116 "interfaces": [117 "api",118 "web",119 "cli",120 "library"121 ],122 "source_model": "open-source",123 "license_spdx": "MPL-2.0",124 "pricing_model": [125 "open-source",126 "free",127 "enterprise"128 ],129 "sources": [130 {131 "url": "https://www.rabbitmq.com/",132 "type": "official_site",133 "supports": [134 "name",135 "summary",136 "vendor"137 ],138 "checked_at": "2026-11-02",139 "title": "RabbitMQ",140 "note": "Copyright notice names Broadcom; page lists AMQP 1.0 and MQTT 5.0 and release series 4.4"141 },142 {143 "url": "https://www.rabbitmq.com/docs",144 "type": "official_docs",145 "supports": [146 "capabilities",147 "interfaces"148 ],149 "checked_at": "2026-11-02",150 "title": "RabbitMQ documentation"151 },152 {153 "url": "https://github.com/rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server/blob/main/LICENSE",154 "type": "license_page",155 "supports": [156 "license_spdx",157 "source_model"158 ],159 "checked_at": "2026-11-02",160 "title": "RabbitMQ LICENSE (MPL 2.0 for server and core plugins)"161 },162 {163 "url": "https://github.com/rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server",164 "type": "repository",165 "supports": [166 "repo_url"167 ],168 "checked_at": "2026-11-02",169 "title": "rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server"170 }171 ],172 "confidence": "high"173}174
