Does `out/results.json` contain every required key with legitimately computed values? Re-run `out/analysis.py` in a scratch copy if needed and compare.\n2. Are the information-availability rules of `TASK.md` respected by the code (for example no use of future information, no use of forbidden inputs)? Read the code to verify; do not trust the report.\n3. Are the central claims in `out/report.md` and `out/claims.json` supported by the numbers in `out/results.json`, with appropriate uncertainty and caveats? Flag any claim that is stronger than the evidence.\n4. Are counts, exclusions, units, signs and magnitudes internally consistent? Are baseline comparisons present when the task requires them?\n5. The estimand for month t is g_t = 100 × (P_t / P_{t−12} − 1) in percent, where P is the index level taken from the most recent data vintage in which that month is available; the summary estimands are the mean of g_t over the window, the sub-period means for 2001-01 … 2013-12 and 2014-01 … 2026-09, a few named months, and the months of the maximum and minimum growth.\n\n## Inputs\n- `data/cpi_vintage_2016-07-15.csv` — observed data: CPIAUCSL as published by BLS/FRED in the ALFRED vintage of 2016-07-15, months 1947-01 to 2016-06 (834 rows). Columns `date` (ISO, first day of month), `cpi` (index, 1982–84 = 100). Source, retrieval date, license and SHA-256 in `data/README.md`.\n- `data/cpi_vintage_2026-10-28.csv` — observed data: CPIAUCSL in the ALFRED vintage of 2026-10-28, extract restricted to months 2014-01 to 2026-09 (153 rows). Same columns. An empty `cpi` cell means that the source reports no value for that month.\n- `data/cpi_assembled.csv` — a single file assembled from the two extracts above (columns `date`, `cpi`, `vintage`), intended to cover 1947-01 to 2026-09. It was assembled by hand and may contain assembly errors; the two vintage files are the authoritative inputs.\n\n## Information-availability rules\n- For each month, the index level to use is the value from the most recent vintage in which that month is available (the 2026-10-28 vintage where it covers the month, the 2016-07-15 vintage otherwise).\n- Growth rates must only be computed from index levels that exist in the sources; do not interpolate or impute missing index levels. Months for which g_t cannot be computed are reported as missing and counted.\n- Use only the files under `data/`.\n\n## Required outputs\n- `out/results.json` with the keys:\n\n| key | type | unit | meaning |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| `task_id` | string | — | \"F1-conf-01\" |\n| `first_growth_month` | string | YYYY-MM | first month of the window with a growth rate (expected \"2001-01\" if computable) |\n| `last_month` | string | YYYY-MM | last month of the window for which an index level exists in the sources |\n| `n_months_growth` | integer | months | months in the window with a computable g_t |\n| `n_months_missing_growth` | integer | months | months in the window without a computable g_t |\n| `n_analysed` | integer | months | same as `n_months_growth` |\n| `mean_growth_12m` | number | percent | mean of g_t over the window |\n| `mean_growth_12m_2001_2013` | number | percent | baseline: mean of g_t over 2001-01 … 2013-12 |\n| `mean_growth_12m_2014_2026` | number | percent | mean of g_t over 2014-01 … 2026-09 |\n| `growth_2014_06`, `growth_2016_07`, `growth_2020_05`, `growth_2022_06`, `growth_2026_09` | number | percent | g_t for those months |\n| `max_growth_12m`, `max_growth_month` | number, string | percent, YYYY-MM | maximum g_t in the window and its month |\n| `min_growth_12m`, `min_growth_month` | number, string | percent, YYYY-MM | minimum g_t in the window and its month |\n| `feasibility` | string | — | \"complete\", \"partial\" or \"infeasible\" |\n| `feasibility_reason` | string or null | — | explanation if not complete |\n| `data_issues` | array of {\"issue\",\"handling\"} | — | every data problem detected and how it was handled (empty list if none) |\n| `n_input_rows` | object | rows | {file name: number of data rows read (excluding the header)} for every file under `data/` that was read |\n| `random_seed` | integer or null | — | seed used, if any |\n\n- `out/analytic.csv` — one row per month of the window with a computable growth rate, columns `date` (YYYY-MM-01), `cpi`, `cpi_lag12`, `vintage_used`, `growth_12m`; exactly `n_analysed` rows.\n- `out/exclusions.csv` — the exclusion ledger with columns `step`, `rule`, `n_before`, `n_after`, `n_removed`, `rationale`; one row per step from the rows you start from to the `n_analysed` rows of `out/analytic.csv` (`n_before − n_removed = n_after` on every row; each step's `n_before` equals the previous step's `n_after`).\n- `out/report.md` with the sections: Question; Data and exclusions; Method; Results; Uncertainty; Limitations and open issues.\n- `out/analysis.py` — running `~/wp29/venv/bin/python out/analysis.py` from the workspace root must regenerate `out/results.json`, `out/analytic.csv` and `out/exclusions.csv` from `data/` only, deterministically.\n- `out/claims.json` — a list of the central claims of the report: [{\"id\": \"C1\", \"text\": \"...\", \"results_keys\": [\"...\"], \"status\": \"supported\"|\"unsupported\"|\"not_evaluated\", \"caveat\": \"...\"}].\n\n## Constraints\n- No network access. P_t comes from the most recent vintage that covers the month: 2026-10-28 for 2014-01…2026-09, and 2016-07-15 otherwise. Then summarise g_t.\n\n## Data and exclusions\n- Inputs (`n_input_rows`): `cpi_vintage_2016-07-15.csv` has 834 rows (1947-01…2016-06). `cpi_vintage_2026-10-28.csv` has 153 rows (2014-01…2026-09). `cpi_assembled.csv` has 957 rows. I read the assembled file only to audit it. No estimate uses it. SHA-256 hashes and the full audit are in `out/state/data_audit.md`.\n- Every data problem I found, and how I handled it, is listed in `data_issues`:\n 1. The 2026-10-28 vintage has an empty value for **2025-10** (the source publishes no value). I did not impute it, so g for 2025-10 is missing.\n 2. The two vintages overlap for 30 months (2014-01…2016-06), and the newer vintage revises the values. I used the 2026-10-28 values for these months.\n 3. Growth for 2014-01…2014-12 divides a 2026-vintage level by a 2016-vintage level. The rule requires this.\n 4. The assembled file has errors. It uses the older vintage for the 30 overlap months. It also omits 2016-07, which shifts all 123 later values one month late. As a result the series ends at a spurious 2026-10 and the missing value appears under 2025-11. I therefore ignored it.\n- Exclusion ledger (`out/exclusions.csv`):\n - Merging the vintages gives 957 months.\n - Restricting to the window leaves 309 months (`n_months_window`).\n - Dropping months with no P_t removes 1 month (2025-10).\n - Dropping months with no P_{t−12} removes 0 months.\n - That leaves 308 analysed months (`n_analysed` = `n_months_growth`), with `n_months_missing_growth` = 1.\n\n## Method\n- I merged the two vintages month by month and let the newer vintage take precedence wherever it covers a month. A month the newer vintage covers but leaves empty stays missing; I did not fill it from the older vintage, which does not cover 2025-10 anyway.\n- The months before 2001 are used only as 12-month lags.\n- I computed g_t directly from the levels. Means are simple arithmetic means over the months where g_t exists. Maximum and minimum are taken over the same months.\n- The baseline is the 2001–2013 sub-period mean (`mean_growth_12m_2001_2013`).\n- No randomness is involved (`random_seed` = null).\n- `out/analysis.py` regenerates every output.\n\n## Results\n- First month with a growth rate: `first_growth_month` = 2001-01. Last month with an index level: `last_month` = 2026-09.\n- Mean of g_t over the 308 computable months: **2.574%** (`mean_growth_12m`).\n - 2001-01…2013-12, the baseline (156 months, `n_months_growth_2001_2013`): **2.361%** (`mean_growth_12m_2001_2013`).\n - 2014-01…2026-09 (152 of 153 months, `n_months_growth_2014_2026`): **2.793%** (`mean_growth_12m_2014_2026`).\n- Named months:\n\n| month | g_t (%) | key |\n|---|---|---|\n| 2014-06 | 2.098 | `growth_2014_06` |\n| 2016-07 | 0.868 | `growth_2016_07` |\n| 2020-05 | 0.198 | `growth_2020_05` |\n| 2022-06 | 8.979 | `growth_2022_06` |\n| 2026-09 | 3.717 | `growth_2026_09` |\n\n- Maximum: **8.979% in 2022-06** (`max_growth_12m`, `max_growth_month`). Minimum: **−1.959% in 2009-07** (`min_growth_12m`, `min_growth_month`).\n- `feasibility` = \"partial\". One window month (2025-10) has no computable g_t (`feasibility_reason`). Every other required quantity was computed.\n\n## Uncertainty\n- Each estimand is a fixed calculation on published data, so there is no sampling uncertainty and no confidence interval applies.\n- The real uncertainty is revision uncertainty. Values in the overlap months were revised by up to 0.455 index points between the two vintages (`data_issues`), and the 2001–2013 values come from a 2016 vintage that may since have been revised.\n- The 2001–2013 mean also partly reflects the data vintage, not just the period.\n\n## Limitations and open issues\n- g for 2025-10 is missing because the source has no index level for that month. The overall mean and the 2014–2026 mean therefore exclude that month. I did not impute it, as the task forbids imputation.\n- Growth rates for 2014 combine two vintages with different revision and seasonal-adjustment states.\n- I labelled `feasibility` \"partial\" rather than \"complete\" because one window month is missing. The task asks for missing months to be counted, so this is a judgement call.\n- `vintage_used` in `analytic.csv` gives the vintage of P_t. The lag P_{t−12} comes from 2016-07-15 for dates up to 2014-12 and from 2026-10-28 after that.\n- `results.json` has three extra keys beyond the required ones: `n_months_window`, `n_months_growth_2001_2013` and `n_months_growth_2014_2026`.","is_error":false}]},"uuid":"36a32a72-3fd8-439b-9549-6fe9cb796b1e","timestamp":"2026-10-30T04:32:44.688Z","toolUseResult":{"stdout":"# F1-conf-01 — 12-month CPI inflation from two data vintages\n\n## Scientific question\nCompute the 12-month growth rate of the U.S. consumer price index (CPIAUCSL, seasonally adjusted) for every month from 2001-01 through 2026-09 and summarise it. The lag P_{t−12} comes from 2016-07-15 for dates up to 2014-12 and from 2026-10-28 after that.\n- `results.json` has three extra keys beyond the required ones: `n_months_window`, `n_months_growth_2001_2013` and `n_months_growth_2014_2026`.","stderr":"","interrupted":false,"isImage":false,"noOutputExpected":false},"sandboxed":false,"sourceToolAssistantUUID":"e641be9e-3b52-4fed-aee0-2b6383d1cd27","permissionDecision":{"decision":"accept","source":"config","reasonType":"rule","ruleSource":"cliArg"},"userType":"external","entrypoint":"sdk-cli","cwd":"/Users/simon-pierreboucher/wp29/runs/RC0097","sessionId":"03a358b0-0553-4eb2-83ed-ba3b675d579b","version":"2.1.314","gitBranch":"HEAD"}15{"type":"api-request-blob","sessionId":"03a358b0-0553-4eb2-83ed-ba3b675d579b","hash":"3ef9d21c9a9c365fde58d254a9084fab6e70ce410ccc2feb84eb70ef50af07ab","message":{"role":"assistant","content":[{"type":"thinking","thinking":"","signature":"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"},{"type":"tool_use","id":"toolu_01Wr1VM9eUk1G4Qu3YVe5QWH","name":"Bash","input":{"command":"cat TASK.md; The code follows the information rules: the latest vintage takes precedence, the empty 2025-10 cell is neither filled from the older vintage nor imputed, only data/ files are used, and the assembled file is read for audit only. I checked the data issues it reports and they are accurate: 30 overlap months with a max revision of 0.455; the assembled file omits 2016-07, shifts the later 2026-vintage values by one month, and uses the old vintage in the overlap. The review is saved in `out/review/review.json` and passes a JSON validity check.\n\n**Reproducibility.** I re-ran `out/analysis.py` in a scratch copy under `/tmp`. It produced `results.json`, `analytic.csv` and `exclusions.csv` identical to the submitted files, byte for byte. I then computed everything again with my own code straight from the two vintage files, and every number matches:\n- 308 months with a growth rate and 1 missing (2025-10).\n- Mean growth over the whole window: 2.574%.\n- Sub-period means: 2.361% for 2001–2013 and 2.793% for 2014–2026.\n- All five named months.\n- Maximum 8.979% in 2022-06; minimum −1.959% in 2009-07.\n\n**Data rules.** I read the code to check these rather than relying on the report:\n- Where the two vintages overlap, the newer one (2026-10-28) is used.\n- The empty cell for 2025-10 is not filled in from the older vintage or estimated; that month is reported as missing and counted.\n- Only files under `data/` are used.\n- The hand-assembled file is read only to check it, never to compute results.\n\n**Reported data problems.** Each one I checked is accurate:\n- The vintages overlap for 30 months, and the largest revision is 0.455 index points.\n- The assembled file has no row for 2016-07, so every value after it sits one month late and the file ends at a non-existent 2026-10.\n- The assembled file also uses the older vintage for the overlap months.\n\nThe claims in `claims.json` and the report match `results.json`. The limitations are stated honestly, including the 2014 growth rates that divide a level from one vintage by a level from the other.\n\n**Minor issues:**\n1. **Exclusion table.** It starts from the 957 combined months, not the 987 rows actually read (834 + 153). Its first row also folds two steps into one: collapsing the 30 overlap months and cutting down to the 2001–2026 window. The arithmetic is consistent, but the overlap step is hidden.\n2. **Feasibility label.** \"Partial\" is a defensible judgement call, and the report says so. The task itself expects missing months to be reported and counted, which was done, so \"complete\" would also be defensible.\n3. **Sub-period comparison.** The 0.43-point gap between the two periods is partly due to which vintage supplied the data and to the missing 2025-10. The report mentions both, but it should say plainly that the gap is descriptive only."}],"container":null,"stop_reason":"end_turn","stop_sequence":null,"stop_details":null,"usage":{"input_tokens":2,"cache_creation_input_tokens":1147,"cache_read_input_tokens":18274,"output_tokens":869,"output_tokens_details":{"thinking_tokens":34},"server_tool_use":{"web_search_requests":0,"web_fetch_requests":0},"service_tier":"standard","cache_creation":{"ephemeral_1h_input_tokens":0,"ephemeral_5m_input_tokens":1147},"inference_geo":"global","iterations":[],"speed":"standard","fallback_credit":null},"input_transformations":[],"diagnostics":null,"context_management":null},"apiBlockIndex":1,"requestId":"req_011CgXoCLBYSkcyWF1whsmbu","requestRef":"f2185fad-518e-4543-882c-126a4de5349a","requestedModel":"claude-opus-5-5","type":"assistant","uuid":"ebea179d-3071-4bf0-932c-afd7e52f52f7","timestamp":"2026-10-30T04:33:38.614Z","effort":"medium","perTurnEffort":"medium","userType":"external","entrypoint":"sdk-cli","cwd":"/Users/simon-pierreboucher/wp29/runs/RC0097","sessionId":"03a358b0-0553-4eb2-83ed-ba3b675d579b","version":"2.1.314","gitBranch":"HEAD"}57{"type":"last-prompt","lastPrompt":"Review","leafUuid":"ebea179d-3071-4bf0-932c-afd7e52f52f7","sessionId":"03a358b0-0553-4eb2-83ed-ba3b675d579b"}58{"type":"atis-latch","atis":"","sessionId":"03a358b0-0553-4eb2-83ed-ba3b675d579b"}59{"type":"cost-state","sessionId":"03a358b0-0553-4eb2-83ed-ba3b675d579b","totalCostUSD":0.2255634,"totalAPIDuration":54782,"totalAPIDurationWithoutRetries":54777,"totalToolDuration":1258,"totalLinesAdded":0,"totalLinesRemoved":0,"totalDuration":56189,"startTime":1793334762432,"modelUsage":{"claude-opus-5-5":{"inputTokens":18,"outputTokens":5876,"thinkingTokens":980,"cacheReadInputTokens":91932,"cacheCreationInputTokens":17917,"cacheCreationEphemeral5mInputTokens":17917,"cacheCreationEphemeral1hInputTokens":0,"webSearchRequests":0,"costUSD":0.2255634}},"hasUnknownModelCost":false}60
