It is the complete and only authoritative description of what is required: the scientific question, the inputs under `data/`, the required output files and their exact keys, and the information-availability rules.\n- There is no network access. Use the Python interpreter `~/wp29/venv/bin/python` (numpy, pandas, scipy, statsmodels, matplotlib are installed). Standard shell tools are available. Do not try to install packages.\n- Write every deliverable under `./out/`. The required deliverables are listed in `TASK.md`; at minimum they always include `out/results.json`, `out/report.md`, and a replication entry point `out/analysis.py` that regenerates `out/results.json` from `data/` when run with `~/wp29/venv/bin/python out/analysis.py` from the workspace root.\n- You are working alone and unattended; nobody will answer questions. Make reasonable, documented decisions.\n\nIntegrity rules (identical for every task):\n- Never fabricate numbers, data, results, or references. Every number in `out/results.json` and `out/report.md` must be produced by code you ran on the provided inputs.\n- Respect the information-availability rules in `TASK.md` exactly (for example, never use information that would not have been available at the stated decision time).\n- If part of the task cannot be completed as specified, say so explicitly in `out/report.md`, explain why, and still write every required file (use `null` for values you could not legitimately produce). An honest statement of a limitation is always preferred to a fabricated or guessed value.\n- Do not modify anything under `data/`.\n- When you are done, end with a brief plain-text summary of what you produced and any limitations.\n\nComplete the task described in `TASK.md`.\n"}],"tools":[{"name":"Bash","description":"execute shell commands","input_schema":{"$schema":"https://json-schema.org/draft/2020-12/schema","type":"object","properties":{"command":{"description":"The command to execute","type":"string"},"timeout":{"description":"Optional timeout in milliseconds (max 600000 for a foreground command)","type":"number"},"description":{"description":"Clear, concise description of what this command does in active voice. > out/report.md <<'EOF'\n# F1-conf-01 — 12-month CPI inflation (CPIAUCSL, SA) from two ALFRED vintages\n\n## Question\nCompute g_t = 100 × (P_t / P_{t−12} − 1) for every month 2001-01 … 2026-09, where P_t comes from the most recent vintage that covers month t (2026-10-28 vintage for 2014-01 onward, 2016-07-15 vintage before that). Then summarise: overall mean, sub-period means, five named months, maximum and minimum.\n\n## Data and exclusions\n- `cpi_vintage_2016-07-15.csv`: 834 rows, 1947-01 … 2016-06, no missing values.\n- `cpi_vintage_2026-10-28.csv`: 153 rows, 2014-01 … 2026-09. **2025-10 has an empty value**: the source publishes no index level for that month.\n- `cpi_assembled.csv`: 957 rows. I read it only to check it against the vintage files, and found assembly errors, so **it was not used for estimation**:\n  1. There is no row for 2016-07. From the row labelled 2016-08 onward, every value sits one month later than its true date (for example, the true 2016-07 value 240.101 is labelled 2016-08), and the file ends with a spurious 2026-10 row. The 2025-10 gap therefore shows up as an empty cell labelled 2025-11.\n  2. For the 30 overlap months 2014-01 … 2016-06 it uses the older 2016-07-15 vintage. That breaks the rule to use the most recent vintage.\n  \n  Using this file would have shifted all growth rates after mid-2016 by one month and given wrong values around the 2016-07 join.\n- Exclusion ledger (`out/exclusions.csv`): the window has 309 calendar months. One month is removed, 2025-10, because P_t is missing and no imputation is allowed. That leaves **308 analysed months**. The missing 2025-10 level would also block g for 2026-10, but that month is outside the window. Every month in the window has P_{t−12} available, including 2025-11 … 2026-09 (their lags are 2024 months).\n\n## Method\nI built the series directly from the two vintage files: the 2026-10-28 values for every month that vintage reports, and the 2016-07-15 values for months before 2014-01. I placed them on a complete monthly calendar so that a 12-row lag is exactly a 12-month lag, then computed g_t. Means are simple arithmetic means over months with a computable g_t. The calculation is deterministic and uses no random seed. `out/analysis.py` regenerates all outputs; it also writes `out/sensitivity.json`, an auxiliary check.\n\n## Results\n| quantity | value |\n|---|---|\n| first growth month / last month with level | 2001-01 / 2026-09 |\n| months with g_t / missing | 308 / 1 (2025-10) |\n| mean g_t, 2001-01 … 2026-09 | 2.574 % |\n| mean g_t, 2001-01 … 2013-12 (156 months) | 2.361 % |\n| mean g_t, 2014-01 … 2026-09 (152 months, excl. 2025-10) | 2.793 % |\n| g 2014-06 | 2.098 % |\n| g 2016-07 | 0.868 % |\n| g 2020-05 | 0.198 % |\n| g 2022-06 | 8.979 % |\n| g 2026-09 | 3.717 % |\n| maximum | 8.979 % in 2022-06 |\n| minimum | −1.959 % in 2009-07 |\n\nThe 2014–2026 mean is about 0.43 percentage points above the 2001–2013 baseline. Most of the difference comes from the 2021–2023 inflation surge.\n\n## Uncertainty\nThese are exact calculations on published index levels, so no sampling uncertainty applies. The standard deviation of g_t over the window is 1.74 pp; this describes how much the series varies, not an error band on the estimate. The main source of non-sampling uncertainty is data revision:\n- **Vintage mixing in 2014:** g for 2014-01 … 2014-12 divides a 2026-vintage P_t by a 2016-vintage P_{t−12}, because 2013 is not in the recent extract. Using the 2016 vintage for both terms instead changes individual 2014 months by up to 0.127 pp; for example, 2014-06 becomes 2.005 % instead of 2.098 %. The 2014 mean barely moves (1.6117 % vs 1.6114 %).\n- Revisions to seasonal factors in later vintages would also change the pre-2014 values, which come from the 2016 vintage. These data cannot quantify that effect.\n\n## Limitations and open issues\n- **Feasibility: partial.** g_t for 2025-10 cannot be computed because the source has no index level for that month, and it is excluded rather than imputed. The overall mean and the 2014–2026 mean therefore cover 308 and 152 months instead of 309 and 153.\n- The vintage rule mixes two vintages within the 2014 growth rates (see Uncertainty). I applied it as the task specifies.\n- `cpi_assembled.csv` has the assembly errors described above and should not be used.\nEOF\ncat > out/claims.json <<'EOF'\n[\n {\"id\":\"C1\",\"text\":\"Mean 12-month CPI inflation over 2001-01..2026-09 is 2.574% (308 months with computable growth).\",\"results_keys\":[\"mean_growth_12m\",\"n_analysed\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"Excludes 2025-10, for which the source publishes no index level.\"},\n {\"id\":\"C2\",\"text\":\"Mean inflation was 2.361% in 2001-2013 and 2.793% in 2014-2026-09, i.e. higher in the later period.\",\"results_keys\":[\"mean_growth_12m_2001_2013\",\"mean_growth_12m_2014_2026\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"Later-period mean over 152 months; 2014 months mix two vintages.\"},\n {\"id\":\"C3\",\"text\":\"The maximum 12-month inflation was 8.979% in 2022-06; the minimum was -1.959% in 2009-07.\",\"results_keys\":[\"max_growth_12m\",\"max_growth_month\",\"min_growth_12m\",\"min_growth_month\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"Pre-2014 values from the 2016-07-15 vintage.\"},\n {\"id\":\"C4\",\"text\":\"12-month growth in 2026-09 is 3.717%; in 2020-05 it was 0.198%; in 2016-07 0.868%; in 2014-06 2.098%.\",\"results_keys\":[\"growth_2026_09\",\"growth_2020_05\",\"growth_2016_07\",\"growth_2014_06\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"2014-06 uses a 2016-vintage lag; with the 2016 vintage for both terms it would be 2.005%.\"},\n {\"id\":\"C5\",\"text\":\"Growth for 2025-10 cannot be computed because the index level is missing in the source; the task is therefore only partially feasible.\",\"results_keys\":[\"n_months_missing_growth\",\"feasibility\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"No imputation performed, per the task rules.\"},\n {\"id\":\"C6\",\"text\":\"The hand-assembled file cpi_assembled.csv contains a one-month date shift from 2016-07 onward and uses a superseded vintage for 2014-01..2016-06; it was not used.\",\"results_keys\":[\"data_issues\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"\"}\n]\nEOF\nls out","description":"Write report and claims"},"caller":{"type":"direct"}}],"container":null,"stop_reason":"tool_use","stop_sequence":null,"stop_details":null,"usage":{"input_tokens":2,"cache_creation_input_tokens":1079,"cache_read_input_tokens":18104,"output_tokens":2621,"output_tokens_details":{"thinking_tokens":0},"server_tool_use":{"web_search_requests":0,"web_fetch_requests":0},"service_tier":"standard","cache_creation":{"ephemeral_1h_input_tokens":0,"ephemeral_5m_input_tokens":1079},"inference_geo":"global","iterations":[],"speed":"standard","fallback_credit":null},"input_transformations":[],"diagnostics":null,"context_management":null},"apiBlockIndex":1,"requestId":"req_011CgXo1AJuMeRaYZsYc6k7H","requestRef":"033cb21f-595c-4ef3-8f4e-88fdf405f564","requestedModel":"claude-opus-5-5","type":"assistant","uuid":"d005ebf8-6cdc-49f7-9a44-28a9601cb272","timestamp":"2026-10-30T04:31:20.017Z","effort":"medium","perTurnEffort":"medium","userType":"external","entrypoint":"sdk-cli","cwd":"/Users/simon-pierreboucher/wp29/runs/RC0099","sessionId":"e742aea4-38dc-43de-9653-44a7b9d88358","version":"2.1.314","gitBranch":"HEAD"}53{"parentUuid":"d005ebf8-6cdc-49f7-9a44-28a9601cb272","isSidechain":false,"promptId":"61cfe398-373a-4e7d-9521-4f882198d983","type":"user","message":{"role":"user","content":[{"tool_use_id":"toolu_01879K6nSXKDZgx9xg1iJm7s","type":"tool_result","content":"analysis.py\nanalytic.csv\nclaims.json\nexclusions.csv\nreport.md\nresults.json\nsensitivity.json","is_error":false}]},"uuid":"bfc15f51-d4ae-4e60-b7d3-541ed0da1446","timestamp":"2026-10-30T04:31:20.086Z","toolUseResult":{"stdout":"analysis.py\nanalytic.csv\nclaims.json\nexclusions.csv\nreport.md\nresults.json\nsensitivity.json","stderr":"","interrupted":false,"isImage":false,"noOutputExpected":false},"sandboxed":false,"sourceToolAssistantUUID":"d005ebf8-6cdc-49f7-9a44-28a9601cb272","permissionDecision":{"decision":"accept","source":"config","reasonType":"rule","ruleSource":"cliArg"},"userType":"external","entrypoint":"sdk-cli","cwd":"/Users/simon-pierreboucher/wp29/runs/RC0099","sessionId":"e742aea4-38dc-43de-9653-44a7b9d88358","version":"2.1.314","gitBranch":"HEAD"}54{"type":"api-request-blob","sessionId":"e742aea4-38dc-43de-9653-44a7b9d88358","hash":"18fe3d87ead0bb4bbe6ebae726bc370c9c11785c6e34f0b92b228056470faea0","message":{"role":"assistant","content":[{"type":"text","text":"Now the report and claims."},{"type":"tool_use","id":"toolu_01879K6nSXKDZgx9xg1iJm7s","name":"Bash","input":{"command":"cat > out/report.md <<'EOF'\n# F1-conf-01 — 12-month CPI inflation (CPIAUCSL, SA) from two ALFRED vintages\n\n## Question\nCompute g_t = 100 × (P_t / P_{t−12} − 1) for every month 2001-01 … 2026-09, where P_t comes from the most recent vintage that covers month t (2026-10-28 vintage for 2014-01 onward, 2016-07-15 vintage before that). I placed them on a complete monthly calendar so that a 12-row lag is exactly a 12-month lag, then computed g_t. Means are simple arithmetic means over months with a computable g_t. The calculation is deterministic and uses no random seed. `out/analysis.py` regenerates all outputs; it also writes `out/sensitivity.json`, an auxiliary check.\n\n## Results\n| quantity | value |\n|---|---|\n| first growth month / last month with level | 2001-01 / 2026-09 |\n| months with g_t / missing | 308 / 1 (2025-10) |\n| mean g_t, 2001-01 … 2026-09 | 2.574 % |\n| mean g_t, 2001-01 … 2013-12 (156 months) | 2.361 % |\n| mean g_t, 2014-01 … 2026-09 (152 months, excl. 2025-10) | 2.793 % |\n| g 2014-06 | 2.098 % |\n| g 2016-07 | 0.868 % |\n| g 2020-05 | 0.198 % |\n| g 2022-06 | 8.979 % |\n| g 2026-09 | 3.717 % |\n| maximum | 8.979 % in 2022-06 |\n| minimum | −1.959 % in 2009-07 |\n\nThe 2014–2026 mean is about 0.43 percentage points above the 2001–2013 baseline. Most of the difference comes from the 2021–2023 inflation surge.\n\n## Uncertainty\nThese are exact calculations on published index levels, so no sampling uncertainty applies. The standard deviation of g_t over the window is 1.74 pp; this describes how much the series varies, not an error band on the estimate. The main source of non-sampling uncertainty is data revision:\n- **Vintage mixing in 2014:** g for 2014-01 … 2014-12 divides a 2026-vintage P_t by a 2016-vintage P_{t−12}, because 2013 is not in the recent extract. Using the 2016 vintage for both terms instead changes individual 2014 months by up to 0.127 pp; for example, 2014-06 becomes 2.005 % instead of 2.098 %. The 2014 mean barely moves (1.6117 % vs 1.6114 %).\n- Revisions to seasonal factors in later vintages would also change the pre-2014 values, which come from the 2016 vintage. These data cannot quantify that effect.\n\n## Limitations and open issues\n- **Feasibility: partial.** g_t for 2025-10 cannot be computed because the source has no index level for that month, and it is excluded rather than imputed. The overall mean and the 2014–2026 mean therefore cover 308 and 152 months instead of 309 and 153.\n- The vintage rule mixes two vintages within the 2014 growth rates (see Uncertainty). I applied it as the task specifies.\n- `cpi_assembled.csv` has the assembly errors described above and should not be used.\nEOF\ncat > out/claims.json <<'EOF'\n[\n {\"id\":\"C1\",\"text\":\"Mean 12-month CPI inflation over 2001-01..2026-09 is 2.574% (308 months with computable growth).\",\"results_keys\":[\"mean_growth_12m\",\"n_analysed\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"Excludes 2025-10, for which the source publishes no index level.\"},\n {\"id\":\"C2\",\"text\":\"Mean inflation was 2.361% in 2001-2013 and 2.793% in 2014-2026-09, i.e. higher in the later period.\",\"results_keys\":[\"mean_growth_12m_2001_2013\",\"mean_growth_12m_2014_2026\"],\"status\":\"supported\",\"caveat\":\"Later-period mean over 152 months;
