Cross-area, raw: share of all internal references of the citing year that leave the citing area (equation~\eqref{eq:cross-area} aggregated over areas); adjusted: the same with the citing areas weighted by their baseline (2018--2022) shares of internal references, which removes the effect of the changing mix of citing areas. Period means of $Q$ at the category and area partitions: baseline 0.5423 and 0.4908; post 0.5112 and 0.4602. The 2018 network is small because few cited works of 2018 or later existed; 2026 is incomplete.\end{tablenotes}20\end{threeparttable}\end{table}21
